Introduction

Underpeaks is a content-model-driven platform. You define your data as models — schema files describing a table's fields, types, and relationships — along with pages, menus, and themes to shape how your content is structured and presented. Underpeaks turns all of it into a working backend, a content editor, a REST API, and — if you want it — a generated Flutter or Next.js app.

Build your backend once. Generate the rest.

Two ways to run Underpeaks

ProductDescription
Underpeaks Studio (hosted)We run it for you — no infrastructure to manage.
Underpeaks Core (self-hosted)Open source. You run it on your own infrastructure and connect your own database.

This documentation covers both — sections that differ between the two are split into Hosted and Self-Hosted below.

What you get

  • A model system for defining your data — see Models & Schema
  • Pages, menus, and themes to structure and style your content
  • A REST API generated per model, secured by API keys — see API Reference
  • Flutter and Next.js app generation from your models, pages, menus, and themes — see Code Generation

Database support

Studio runs on Supabase.

Core supports five databases out of the box, with a unified adapter interface: Supabase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase. See Connecting Your Database.
